I applied for a position at the humane society and was essentially told that they want me but they want to be sure I want the job because it’s kinda brutal work for very low pay.
I would be cleaning out the kennels which is fine I’m no stranger to poop. Also cleaning the storage rooms, doing laundry, cleaning out transport vans etc.
But I would also be assisting with performing euthanasia. I want to get into vet work eventually so I know it’ll be good experience for me but idk if I can handle it mentally especially considering I’m still waiting to get back on meds and be seen by a therapist. I would also be handling body disposal and cremation/bone grinding.
I would be more willing to accept if the pay was more than $8/ hour. Also I’d be working 35 hours a week and the schedule doesn’t seem to be very flexible.
They said there’s a very high turnover rate and little to no room for growth so idk what to do. I want experience but I also would kinda rather have an easier job for higher pay so I can pay for vet tech school and then work at a clinic.
Idkkkkk ugh they want an answer soon idk idk idk
